Organic Somen is a thin round noodle. It is made using organically grown prime hard wheat flour, a hard-grained wheat that has a minimum protein of 13%. Somen noodles are a popular summertime dish where they are traditionally eaten cold with a dipping sauce.
ABOUT HAKUBAKU
After much research, Hakubaku decided the high-quality "Rosella" variety of wheat grown in Australia, is the best in the world for the manufacturing of high quality Japanese noodles. In 1998 Hakubaku commenced noodle production at its purpose built manufacturing plant in Ballarat, the only one of its kind in Australia. The site offers the advantage of being able to secure raw materials due to the close proximity to where "Rosella" and other high quality wheat varieties are grown.
Originally Hakubaku Australia produced noodles for the Japanese market, producing noodles for export to Hakubaku Japan. However following demand, Hakubaku began to sell noodles in Australia. The Hakubaku range of noodles are now widely available in supermarkets and Asian grocery stores.
